Are you motivated to make a positive change to the lives of children who are impacted by the devastating, neurological condition, Huntington’s disease within their family? Could you provide the support needed to cope with the unique and complex challenges they face each day? If so, an exciting opportunity has arisen to join Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA) Youth Service as Specialist Youth Advisor supporting our vulnerable children and families throughout North/ East Scotland.
The Scottish Huntington’s Association (SHA) Youth Service works with children and young people aged 8 to 25, delivering a person-centred approach including psychoeducation, information and advice, peer support and respite opportunities.
As an SHA Specialist Youth Advisor, you will provide lifeline support for young people across the north east of Scotland, including Highlands, Grampian and Tayside. The Youth Service team manages a complex caseload while delivering one to one support sessions and developing group work sessions for ages 8-12, 13-17 and 18 years +. In addition, Specialist Youth Advisors provide support to practitioners and deliver respite opportunities for our young people through, for example, residential trips and our annual summer camp.
