  • Fèisean nan Gàiidheal

This organisation supports the development of community-based Gaelic arts tuition festivals throughout Scotland. The Gaelic word 'fèis' means 'festival' or 'feast', it is most closely associated today with the movement which offers young people particularly, the opportunity to come together for tuition in Gaelic song, music, drama, dance, and Gaelic language. The Fèisean have done a tremendous amount to promote Gaelic, and Gaelic culture, and that is evident in the large number of young people who have tremendous interest and skills in Highland music, Gaelic song and drama, as well as the language. Importantly, they allow people to participate in this precious culture and learn skills which were, at one time, learned through a rich oral tradition.
