Yu-Lei is a 2018 #iwill ambassador at the age of 12, read his social action story so far:
"I was nine years old when I first took some social action. I did this with my family and we supported the local Foodbank by standing outside a supermarket and asking customers to buy some extra items that they were happy to donate to the Foodbank. Feeling passionate that no-one should be hungry or homeless, along with my brother I did some more volunteering for the Foodbank at school and we both did a reverse Advent for them as part of our Activity Medal Award scheme.
I am delighted to have been chosen as a Year of Young People 2018 Ambassador and have gained a lot from the networking and national events this has seen me attend.
I am also involved in several initiatives around digital. This includes sitting on the NHS Scotland Youth Steering Group for Digital Health Technology and the Scottish Government Digital Resilience Youth Steering Group, and I was also involved in the 5 (Digital) Rights Summit 2018.
I continue to be involved in programmes that help people who are less fortunate than I am, and my role as a Year of Young People 2018 Ambassador will be a powerful platform from which I can spread awareness of the #iwill campaign."
Organisations that Yu-Lei has been involved with include:
- Midlothian Foodbank
