James became an #iwill ambassador in 2018. This is James's social action journey:
"Ever since I first got involved in social action at the age of fourteen, I’ve been passionate about inspiring and helping young people achieve and aim to be the best they can be.
I was recently selected to be part of Young Scots #YSThree Advisory Group, whereby I get to help shape the direction Young Scot takes over the next three years. Through Young Scot, I’ve had the honour of meeting people from across British society, such as young people from Youth Commission Guernsey, the Minister for Public Finance and Digital Economy Kate Forbes, and Baroness Beeban Kidron. The experiences and opportunity Young Scot give young people in Scotland is incredible.
On top of my work for young people, I was also given a fantastic opportunity to be volunteer Marketing Officer at Stranraer Credit Union. In my role, I managed to introduce several new systems to the Credit Union which benefits members and staff alike, as well as bringing in more effective marketing tactics, such as utilising Snapchat as a way of gaining attention, to really update the Credit Union into the 21st century. I also managed to work for Barnardo’s, an organisation I feel passionate about because they aim to help vulnerable young people get the best start in life.
Young people should always strive to be the best they can be, and I’m a strong believer that getting involved in the community is the best way a young person can gain the skills they need for the future."
Organisations that James has been involved with, include:
