Awkward Moments campaign to highlight positive and mutual consent

NHS boards from across Scotland have commissioned a new sexual health campaign called Awkward Moments to help young people in Scotland recognise what good consensual intimate experiences can look like.

The campaign is in response to academic research completed in 2019 and aims to support practitioners to provide support and increase confidence to start the important conversations around positive and mutual consent.

NHS sexual health teams formed a steering group from across the youth sector, including Young Scot, NSPCC, LANDED, Rape Crisis, LGBT Youth Scotland and West Lothian Council. A youth steering group was also created to ensure young people were meaningfully engaged and represented throughout the process.
