New to Nature: Paid work placements in the natural environment sector

New to Nature is a programme of paid work placements designed to help diversify the natural environment sector, and to create brilliant work opportunities for young people.

Funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and delivered through a partnership of Groundwork, The Prince’s Trust, Disability Rights UK, Mission Diverse, and the Youth Environmental Service, the programme will provide paid work placements for at least 70 young people to undertake a range of environmental roles.

Last week 60 New to Nature roles opened for applications, offering a range of exciting opportunities for young people across a range of excellent partner organisations. Our focus is on attracting young people from diverse backgrounds into the sector, reflecting our shared desire to demonstrate that the environment matters to everyone.  We know from previous research that the environmental sector is not currently reflective of the communities it seeks to engage with and serve.  We are therefore particularly keen to attract young people who are from ethnically diverse backgrounds, who have a disability or who are economically disadvantaged.
