YouthLink Scotland Policy Convention: Call out for contributions!

The youth work sector is uniquely positioned as a rights promoter and enabler across Local Authority and Voluntary youth work practice the length and breadth of Scotland. As such, we are pleased to announce that our next policy convention “Youth Work is Human Rights Work”, is taking place on Thursday 8 December, to coincide with Human Rights Day the same week.

There is a new Scottish Human Rights Bill on this horizon. This will apply to everyone living in Scotland and includes the principle of respect for human dignity applying to all without restriction. It forms part of a series of major human rights reform Scotland. We want to make sure this event reflects on the previous discussions on the sector’s role in the implementation of UNCRC into Scots law, how this links to the priorities of the new National Youth Work Strategy (2022-2027) and in consideration of wider Human Rights Treaties.

Youth work’s role in supporting the human rights of young people are well known and documented by youth work leaders and policy professionals. Which is why we are asking you to help the policy planning team bring together the best examples of youth work practice in this field and direct us to people or groups who are leading the way in policy development in this area.

Please get in touch with Kevin Kane with any ideas or for more information on how you can get involved.
