Scottish Schools Pipe and Drums Trust Open Grant Fund
The SSPDT supports young people in Scotland to broaden their education, especially their musical and social skills, by encouraging them to take up and play the chanter, pipes and drums; and by supporting the development of school pipe bands. The Open Grant Fund provides one-off cash awards of between £250 and £5,000 to the following eligible organisations to achieve this:
- State school
- Local authority
- Pipe band, voluntary or charitable organisation
- Independent schools, especially those that collaborate with state schools by creating additional workshop places, tuition or by sharing resources.
Priority is given to rural areas and areas of socio-economic deprivation where there is limited or no tuition. The grant will fund up to half of the project’s total cost as the organisation is required to have additional project funding in place. Applications can be made any time but should be received at least 3 months before the beginning of the project. The grant application form can be found on the SSPDT website.
