What is youth work’s role in the school age childcare landscape?

Back to events

YouthLink Scotland and Lothian Association of Youth Clubs (LAYC) are hosting a national conversation to discuss this question on 7 September 2021 from 10 am to 11.30 am.

In March 2021, Scottish Government published their Progress Report on School Age Childcare, acknowledging that school age childcare includes a broad range of services to support families around the school day and during holidays. Youth work forms an important part of the school age childcare landscape in Scotland. This can include providing access to activities, childcare, food and wider family support.

As part of the conversation we’ll hear from practitioners delivering both regulated and unregulated provision, including those involved in the Access to Childcare Fund. We will also be joined by Scottish Government, who are keen to hear your views on youth work’s role in the landscape. There will be time for questions and discussion around ways of strengthening partnerships, promoting value and understanding youth work’s place in the childcare landscape.

This event is aimed at youth work practitioners who deliver or manage after school clubs, breakfast provision, or holiday provision for children and young people up to the age of 14.
