Sex, gender and sexuality: supporting LGBT young people with autism

This half-day training will explore your understanding of gender and autism. You will delve into the history of sexuality and disability, as well as improve your knowledge on the difference between sex, gender, gender expression and attraction. The session will help you to improve your understanding of the diversity of the autistic LGBT community and how we can make sure our language and approaches make us more inclusive.

  • Understanding the history of sexuality and disability.
  • Recognising the diversity of the LGBT community.
  • Differentiating between sex, gender, gender expression and attraction.
  • Understanding the relationship between gender and autism.
  • Signposting to practical resources and working directly with the new Scottish national relationships, sexual health and parenthood (RSHP) resource.
