Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme
The Scottish Government is in the process of developing secondary legislation for the new vetting and barring scheme (PVG scheme) introduced through the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007.
The scheme will:
- ensure that those who have regular contact with vulnerable groups through the workplace do not have a history of harmful behaviour
- deliver a fair and consistent system that will be quick and easy for people to use
- end the need for multiple, written disclosure applications.
The PVG Scheme will go live on the 30 November 2010.
