Being Young in Scotland 2009

YouthLink Scotland produces Being Young in Scotland every two years.  The document offers a unique insight into the hopes, fears, attitudes and aspirations of our young people from 11-25 years of age.

It gives national and local policy makers, youth and children’s practitioners useful and up-to-date intelligence which can be translated into important policy and practice decisions over the next planning cycle.

It offers insights over an eight-year period into how attitudes have changed, the power and penetration of information technology and the feelings of young people regarding their self-worth and respect for others.

YouthLink Scotland acknowledges and thanks its partners in this piece of work - the Equality and Human Rights Commission, Scotland’s Commissioner for Children and Young People, Young Scot, the Youth Commission on Alcohol, Volunteer Development Scotland, the Scottish Government’s Community Safety Unit and Fife Council.

This research would not have been possible without the co-operation of staff and pupils in schools throughout Scotland and our research partner CELLOmruk.

We hope you find the document useful and stimulating.
